Judges

i found an interesting verse in the bible which shows how certain forms of torture actually date back to ancient times!

"Will you like to make a donation?"

i went to volunteer for Hope Centre's Flag Day today and i probably asked that question 2,000 times (sold 200 flags and approx 10 requests per donation)..

Before the year began, i decided that contributing to the community will be one of the things i wanted to do in 2008 and set myself the very "do-able" target of 1 act of community/social work per quarter. unfortunately it is now Oct and this is the first one i did.. haha.. i thank God tt i did at least one! i'm also very thankful for finding a very good spot: the gap between Square2 and Velocity at Novena, although i've learnt tt lots of traffic does not always translate to lots of donations... In fact, there were fewer donations towards the later part of the afternoon, where there were more pple, i thin becos everyone walked faster..

i'm glad to have done this today... i think i've become a lot less charitable in recent times (aft NKF). Today, standing at the other side of the equation, has made me a lot more keen to give the next time i see a flag day. =)

Melamine Cover-up

China covered up milk scare to protect Olympics: critics

"China knew about the contamination of milk products months ago but covered the scandal up to prevent it tarnishing the Beijing Olympics, according to journalists, rights groups and media critics.

The crisis broke in mid-September, a month after the Olympics, but several Chinese reporters had long known about babies being hospitalised after drinking tainted milk, yet were muzzled by the authorities, the critics say...
